Housing Programs | Fort Collins and Wellington Public Housing
Fort Collins Public Housing:

The Housing Authority owns apartments, duplexes, and houses, which it rents to eligible individuals and families. Public Housing is scattered throughout the city, including many Old Town locations and sites near bus lines. One-bedroom to four-bedroom housing is available, but because the rents are so low, the wait for Public Housing is often 1-2 years. Rents are based on 30% of adjusted income; income is adjusted by allowing deductions for childcare, disability/elderly status, and out-of-pocket medical costs, for the disabled or elderly. Most Public Housing residents pay their own utilities, and the rent calculation takes that into account. Deposits are based on income as well, and can be paid in installments. The Housing Authority may allow one pet with a required, additional $300 deposit. (Height and weight restrictions apply)

Wait Time: approximately 1 year, depending on bedroom size

Wellington Public Housing:

Wellington is just north of Fort Collins. Wellington Housing Authority (WHA) has a family neighborhood of duplexes with a common lawn area, playground, and basketball hoop in the center; there are also scattered duplexes near the park, Boys & Girls Club, and the elementary and junior high school.

WHA has a senior neighborhood for elderly residents where all utilities are paid and the units have air conditioning.

The Fort Collins Housing Authority administers Wellington Public Housing.
